As a man in my 50s, I use fitness to stay strong, healthy, and mentally sharp. Regular cardio and free weight training at the gym help me maintain muscle, boost energy, and support long-term well-being. It’s not about youth—it’s about staying active, resilient, and living life fully, with strength and balance for the years ahead.
My archery journey began at 13, shooting a fibreglass flatbow with a mismatched set of bent aluminium arrows. Since then, I’ve progressed to representing Gloucestershire and Worcestershire in inter-county competitions, with some wins along the way. Here, I’m sharing what I’ve learned—both for others and as a place to reflect when things don’t go to plan.
Canicross is something I enjoy doing with my Border Terrier, Betty—a great way for us both to stay active and have fun. It’s not about racing, but about the shared experience, getting outdoors, and connecting with others. We love meeting up with friends, exploring new trails, and enjoying the energy and excitement the sport brings.
Spending time on my allotment is how I unwind and reconnect with nature. It’s a peaceful space where I grow fresh, seasonal produce and enjoy the satisfaction of working with my hands. Whether planting, weeding, or harvesting, it’s a grounding routine that supports both my physical well-being and my love of good, homegrown food.
